Strategy for Use of Distance Education (EaD) and Information Technologies (TIC)

In order to reach its primary objective, which is the promotion of inter-university cooperation through training networks, COLAM agreed to promote distance education and information technologies (EaD/TIC) in higher education. This would improve the quality of teaching, reinforce the development of human resources for using EaD/TIC, consolidate interchange between the diverse innovators in this field, promote the convergence of initiatives and increase the reach of programs established by the networks.

COLAM has explored different strategic mechanisms to promote the use of EaD/TIC in higher education and drew up diverse pilot projects, in particular:

  1. The creation of a Training Pilot Centre for the use of EaD/TIC in Mexico
  2. The creation of a “Simulation Centre” in Brazil
  3. Execution of a series of Awareness Workshops for university leaders and administrators
  4. Development of Training Programs to improve skills and competencies in the use of EaD/TICs
  5. Partnerships.
