Simulation Centre

Taking into account that the Pilot Centre in Tlaxcala operates solely in Spanish, which restricts the participation of non-Spanish speaking IOHE regions, a second initiative was instituted whose aim is to extend the training offered through Tlaxcala.  Thus COLAM established a strategic alliance with the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (UNISUL), one of Brazil’s leading universities for virtual education. This permitted the creation of a “simulation” of the Tlaxcala Centre, in Portuguese. This simulation centre uses UNISUL’s technology platform and the methodological model developed in Tlaxcala, which minimizes development costs and permits the utilization of the training courses and expertise developed in Tlaxcala.

Thanks to this alliance, the three pilot courses of the RIF on Education and Telematics have been translated into and adapted to Portuguese and are offered in Brazil (Methodology of Distance Education, Media and Technologies for EaD and Administration and Planning for EaD). The adaptation of RICBLU’s courses is presently in negotiation.  In addition, COLAM established a collaborative agreement with the OAS and UNISUL and has offered a pilot version, in Portuguese, of the course in electronic government.
